Vycarb was founded by climate scientist and carbon chemist Garrett Boudinot, whose work tracing the carbon cycle through climate change led to developing new ways to trace carbon cycling in climate solutions. Serving on the NY State Climate Impacts Assessment, running a research program at Cornell University on carbon removal, and eventually receiving an Activate Fellowship, Boudinot combined his background in climate science with carbon measurement to develop a new way to remove, store, and measure carbon that accelerates natural carbon storage in a way that’s safe and effective - in that order.

Now, Vycarb is a growing team of engineers, scientists, and industry experts focused on scaling real climate solutions. We’re here because we’re concerned not only about climate change, but about the direction climate solutions have been moving. Frustration with greenwashing, skepticism of carbon management, and concerns about safety and efficacy of new technologies are warranted, and they’re the reason we exist. Extant voices in the climate solutions movement implore communities and buyers to blindly trust that an invisible gas is being truly locked away from the climate system - and it’s led to fraud and frustration.

We believe in a paradigm shift. One where measurement isn’t a supporting act in carbon management, but is the act of carbon management.
